Our offerings include High-Risk Pregnancy Care, Level II Special Care Nursery with a partnership with the Neonatal Practitioner Team from Seattle Children's Hospital, 24-hr OB Hospitalists, Childbirth and Family Education Classes, Breastfeeding support both inpatient and outpatient, Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC), and a volunteer doula program to provide physical and emotional support to pregnant patients both before and after childbirth.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for serving as the primary Registered Nurse delivering care to patients who are admitted to the Family Birth Center. This patient population may include low-risk
and high-risk pregnancies, as well as providing care to postpartum patients and well newborns.

Essential Job Functions:

● Conducts Maternal-Fetal Assessment.
● Provides nursing support to the laboring patients, utilizing pharmacological and
non-pharmacological pain management.
● Provides stabilization and transition of the normal newborn at delivery.
● Circulates for Cesarean Sections.
● Cares for the post-surgical patient.
● Assists the anesthesiologist with insertion of an epidural and provides care to the patient with
regional anesthesia.
● Provides care to the High-Risk maternity patient
● Assesses and cares for post-partum and newborn patients.
● Identifies and provides appropriate interventions to mothers with post-partum complications.
● Provides support and education to breast-feeding mothers.
● Identifies full-term infants at risk for complications and provides appropriate care to the full-term
infant with complications.

Qualifications:

Qualififactions 

Education/Work Experience: 

● Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. 
● Possession of a BSN degree is preferred. 
● Previous recent Labor and Delivery Experience is preferred, or 
● 1-2 years Med/Surg experience, with expectation of completing our labor and delivery education program after hire. 

 Licensure/Certification:

*  Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
* Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification. Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
* Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) completion within 6 months of date of hire. Electronic Fetal Monitoring offered by National Certification Corporation (NCC), or American Nurses Credentialing Center certification preferred.
