Overview: Intake Nurse - Transfer Center Part-time: Days rotation of 11a/3p (0.5 FTE) Onsite: Des Moines, IA - Corporate Office The Transfer Center Intake Nurse is the first point of contact when a provider is seeking admission for their patient to UnityPoint Health. The nurse may coordinate conversations with providers to care for patients in their home community as well as coordinates the transfers when a patient is needing a higher level of care. This nursing function will answer calls, triage, communicate with and connect providers, and determine placement facility. The ability to manage competing priorities and technologies without compromising accuracy, efficiency, and safety is essential to the success of this position. Responsibilities: Intake Nurse: * Perform nursing triage of provided patient information to identify the providers, clinicians, and staff necessary to support medical conversations and transfers to UPH. * Use their nursing skills to assess available information, knowing when to ask for more information, to ensure accurate patient placement. * Knowledge, understanding, and adherence of state and federal law surrounding EMTALA, HIPAA, DNV, CMS, and other regulatory agencies. * Adherence to policy and workflows regarding patient transfers, placement, and capacity. Placement Nurse: * Serve as a resource for questions from patient placement team members if needed. * Float between intake calls and placement as volumes/duties necessitate. * Complete duties within scope as assigned by manager. * Serve as a manager liaison on off shifts. * Support and assist in orientation and mentoring of team members Qualifications: Education: * Completion of accredited school of nursing registered nursing program and successful NCLEX exam Experience: * 3 or more years of Hospital RN experience in ER, Intermediate, or ICU level of care Licenses/Certifications: * Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state which you practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license. * BLS (can obtain upon hire) #System123
