Infusion Hours M-F Day Shift; No Weekends or Holidays

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at Registered Nurse skill level, in collaboration with the Medical Plan of Care with a minimum of assistance.  To function as primary nurse or charge nurse so that optimum quality of patient care is maintained according to the philosophy and objectives of UnityPoint Health - Marshalltown Hospital.  To exercise accountability, responsibility, authority, autonomy and act as a role model and resource person with expanded theory and expertise.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care

* Collaborates with other healthcare team members and the patient/family to develop an individualized plan of care.
* Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to any age related need of the patients served on the assigned unit. 
* Delegates duties based on the scope of the role, knowledge and skill of the caregiver. 
* Recognizes situations and significant assessment findings that require verbal or written communication and follow through to the appropriate individuals (provider, charge nurse, nurse manager, supervisor).
* Obtains, records and/or accurately enters data into the EMR. Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care. 
* Communicates with the healthcare team, ancillary staff, patients and visitors in a respectful and professional manner.
* Participates in and completes all education and training programs as required by hospital policy and as requested by manager/director. 
* Gathering orders, H&P's, labs, etc. for patients prior to scheduled procedure.
* Calling patient prior to scheduled procedure to start admission process and give information about upcoming surgery.
* Ensures anesthesia recommended pre-procedure testing is completed.

Quality of Care

* Delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating critical thinking and clinical skills of the specialty required on assigned unit in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care. 
* Incorporates the focus of unit or hospital performance improvement efforts in every aspect of day to day nursing care. 
* Hand-offs will be done with attention to detail and with safety as a high priority. Hand-offs are utilized to communicate patient treatment and assessment information, patient education needs, goals of care and other quality care measures at each change of caregiver or setting of care.
* Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.

Charge Nurse Duties

* Provides oversight to general workflow and day to day responsibilities of assigned unit.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

* Minimum of an Associate Degree of Nursing
* Valid RN license

Preferred:

* BSN preferred
* PALS for any pediatric nurse
