				Overview:

Mercy Medical Center Redding offers comprehensive health care to nearly 300,000 residents in a six-county region. It is one of only two Level II trauma centers, the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the only Joint Commission-certified Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center north of Sacramento north of Sacramento. Mercy Medical Center Redding is a 266-bed regional medical center providing inpatient and outpatient services as well as specialized cardiovascular care, stroke care, orthopedics, neurological surgery, comprehensive cancer care, maternity care, and a robust robotic surgery program. Responsibilities:

The incumbent is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a patient assignment through therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and other health care team members. The incumbent, as a member of the health care team appropriately assists team members in providing holistic care to patients and their support systems with an awareness of cost containment and time management.

As our RN, you are a professional caregiver assuming full responsibility and accountability for patient assignments. Leveraging your expertise and therapeutic use of self, you will deliver compassionate, high-quality care that profoundly impacts patient well-being and recovery. 

Every day, with the collaboration with other health care team members, you will provide individualized, comprehensive care, meticulously implementing patient plans while assisting the team in holistic care with an awareness of cost containment and time management.

To be successful in this role, you will possess keen assessment skills, acute critical thinking, and a patient-first mindset, driven by a profound enthusiasm for excellence in our fast-paced environment.

* Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate
* Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options)
* Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care
* Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care to determine immediate priorities and to offer solutions for problems
* Follows unit specific safety regulations and guidelines for cytotoxic drug safe handling
* Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict

Qualifications:

Requirements:

* Two years hospital inpatient Oncology or outpatient Chemotherapy experience required (may consider training if current staff skill set and experience
* Verbal and written communication skills and computer skills required

Licensure: 

* Current CA RN License
* BLS and ONS Chemotherapy Certification Required
* Certification appropriate for the area required

Education:

* Associates degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required

Preferred: 

* ONS Oncology Certification BSN
* Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing preferred
