RN Intake Coordinator in the Behavioral Healthcare Services setting performs duties within the scope of practice for his/her license as defined by California Department of Consumer Affairs. RN Intake Coordinator screens clients contacting GMH Behavioral Health via phone, e-fax or other method for possible admission. Coordinates admissions to inpatient services. Processes inquiries by performing a clinical assessment of needed intensity of service and insurance coverage. Logs and handles all inquiries in a professional manner per policy. * Performs an initial clinical review and/or assessment of psychiatric patients to determine in collaboration with the psychiatrist what level of care is required for treatment. * Completes/updates patient information on intake log to maintain accuracy of demographics, relevant data from patient's medical record and documentation received from referral source. * For inpatient admissions the RN Intake Coord acts as a liaison with the physician, insurance company, business office, Utilization Review and unit staff. * Maintains effective communication with community agencies that refer patients. Contributes to the ongoing development of new referral sources. * Understands and is able to communicate admission and exclusionary criteria and regulations for the behavioral health program and related services. We are not currently accepting new graduate or new to speciality applications. Qualifications: Required * Minimum of two(2) years of acute psychiatric experience in nursing * 1 (one) year BHU intake experience * Current and Active Registered Nurse: CA * AHA Basic Life Support Preferred * Bachelors Of Nursing, upon hire
