RN Intake Coordinator in the Behavioral Healthcare Services setting performs duties within the scope of practice for his/her license as defined by California Department of Consumer Affairs. RN Intake Coordinator screens clients contacting GMH Behavioral Health via phone, e-fax or other method for possible admission. Coordinates admissions to inpatient services.
Processes inquiries by performing a clinical assessment of needed intensity of service and insurance coverage. Logs and handles all inquiries in a professional manner per policy.

* Performs an initial clinical review and/or assessment of psychiatric patients to determine in collaboration with the psychiatrist what level of care is required for treatment.
* Completes/updates patient information on intake log to maintain accuracy of demographics, relevant data from patient's medical record and documentation received from referral source.
* For inpatient admissions the RN Intake Coord acts as a liaison with the physician, insurance company, business office, Utilization Review and unit staff.
* Maintains effective communication with community agencies that refer patients. Contributes to the ongoing development of new referral sources.
* Understands and is able to communicate admission and exclusionary criteria and regulations for the behavioral health program and related services.

Qualifications:

Required

* Minimum of two(2) years of acute psychiatric experience in nursing
* 1 (one) year BHU intake experience
* Current and Active Registered Nurse: CA
* AHA Basic Life Support

Preferred

* Bachelors Of Nursing, upon hire
