Responsibilities:

This position plans coordinates and implements staff development continuing education orientation annual update and competency evaluation processes including remediation of staff. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of St. Bernardine Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support St. Bernardine Medical Center's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities.

* Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with peers and Nurse Directors to integrate practice guidelines, standards of care and professional performance.
* Establishes goals and objectives for staff education based on identified needs that support department policy and standards of practice.
* Participates and/or chairs hospital wide committees for practice policies and standards affecting nursing care.
* Utilizes advanced practice standards and applies principles of change and adult learning theories in the classroom and all appropriate activities.
* Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the orientation process and ongoing training needs of new and continuing staff.
* Assesses and evaluates staff competency utilizing multiple methods to evaluate (cognitive and psychomotor) as well as develops measurable tools for evaluation and appropriate remediation processes when indicated.

Qualifications:

Required

* Four years of nursing experience with demonstrated progressive teaching and communication skills OR five years of nursing experience with specialty certification AND Masters in progress
* Master's degree in related field OR Master's degree in progress
* Current valid California nursing License
* BLS
* Appropriate Specialty Certification.
