Overview: This is an Internal Posting for current RN's working at Finley Hospital. Shift: Work hours will be primarily days, Monday - Friday, for 80 hours per pay period. You will be required to flex to other shifts to accommodate the unit. This position does one day of staffing per pay period. Your Experience Can Shape the Future of Nursing! Responsibilities: Staff Development/Education * Maintains an awareness of evidence-based nursing and research and collaborates in developing, implementing, and evaluating standards of evidence-based practice and policies/procedures related to care. * Assesses the educational needs of staff and identifies learning needs to establish an environment that promotes individual growth, job satisfaction and nurtures professional practice. * Serves as the lead in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized clinical orientation for nursing staff. * Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of in-services and continuing education offerings for clinical and non-clinical staff using formal, informal and "just in time" teaching methods, including the use of up-to-date and innovative resources (i.e. e-learning, simulation, etc.). * Acts as a resource for the development and evaluation of competency-based orientation skills validation. * Supports the clinical preceptor for effective communication and clinical education of staff. * Maintains records and reports that reflect the educational activities for the department/hospital. * Assists with hospital-wide orientation sessions. Leadership * Acts as a positive role model and resource for staff. * Accepts responsibility for maintaining and developing own skill and knowledge in the clinical work area. * Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule. * Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately. * Consults with nursing leadership with regards to concerns/issues about clinical competence, equipment, and care delivery systems related to specific patient care problems/populations. * Serves on committees, task forces and special projects. * Revises current policies and clinical practice guidelines as assigned. Clinical Role * Work as staff nurse in the medical-surgical departments 12 hours per pay period, or as needed. Qualifications: Education: * Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree in Nursing Experience: * Five (5) years of hospital clinical experience in a medical/surgical setting or demonstrated clinical efficacy. * Prefer someone with prior experience teaching adults learnins or prior experience in educational programming in relevant clinical area(s). License(s)/Certification(s): * Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. * Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Pediatric Emergency Assessment and Response (PEARS) certification. Other: * Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. * Exercises sound judgment, seeking advice when appropriate * Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. * Balances team and individual responsibilities; is open and objective to other's views; gives and welcome feedback; contributes to positive team goals.
