Responsibilities:
As an ER Nurse at CHI Mercy Health Valley City, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you'll be the first touchpoint to the people in our community during health emergencies.
No two days in emergency nursing are ever the same. You're a multitasker who can react quickly as you'll prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while you're providing emergency triage to others. As part of our ER team, you'll partner with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care to our patients by performing IV starts, foley catheter insertions, or aiding providers with chest tube insertions.
To thrive as an ER nurse, you should exhibit teamwork, professionalism, critical thinking skills, and a willingness to take on additional projects such as patient experience initiatives. More than anything, you should be energetic and motivated to provide quality care to all of our patients, maintaining their dignity at every step.
* Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements; initiates plan of care
* Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families
* Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions
* Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations
* Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
* Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
* Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN), Required upon hire.
Licensure and Certifications
* Registered Nurse: North Dakota (RN:ND), Required upon hire.
* American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR), Required upon hire.
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Required upon hire.
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Required upon hire.
* Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Required within 12 months of start.
* Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS), Preferred.
