Responsibilities:

Our General Surgery Department is actively seeking Registered Nurses who demonstrate a commitment to patient care excellence. As a Registered Nurse in our General Surgery unit, you will play a vital role in coordinating, supervising, and implementing patient care, drawing upon your professional expertise, knowledge, and evidence-based practice. You will have the autonomy to practice at the highest standards, consistent with the Nurse Practice Act and our commitment to providing the best possible care.

* Maintain compliance with all established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
* Utilize clinical knowledge and expertise to plan, evaluate, and coordinate patient care.
* Establish and maintain professional relationships with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
* Document and communicate all relevant patient information to the appropriate team members.
* Demonstrate effective nursing judgment and a thorough understanding of the nursing process.
* Proactively address patient needs during hourly rounds.
* Communicate the plan of care to patients and families, encouraging their active involvement.
* Demonstrate a professional and cooperative manner.
* Administer medications as directed and assess patient responses.
* Demonstrate an understanding of Continuous Performance Improvement.
* Supervise and assign duties to unlicensed assistive personnel.
* Act as a resource for all aspects of the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
* Access the network and utilize electronic applications effectively.
* Serve as a preceptor and role model.
* Collaborate with supervisory staff to identify educational and professional growth needs.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Graduate of Accredited RN school of Nursing
* Registered Nurse with current California license required
* Minimum 3 years current acute care registered nursing experience in specialty area required.
* Minimum of one year of experience in a CVOR or related setting
* Current AHA BLS required
* LA City Fire Card required within 90 days of hire.
* Experience with EHR (Cerner MediTech etc) preferred.
* Current certification in specialty area preferred.

This position is represented by SEIU L121RN and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement
