The Ambulatory Specialty Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a clinical leader, patient advocate, and trusted partner within the outpatient specialty setting. This role blends direct patient care, care coordination, education, and clinical judgement to support patients across the continuum of their health journey.

Working in close collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care grounded in best scientific evidence and delivered with compassion. The nurse develops authentic, personalised relationships with patients and their chosen support systems, ensuring every interaction reflects safety, dignity, and excellence.

The RN accepts full responsibility, authority, and accountability for clinical decision-making and care delivery in alignment with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and organisational policies.

Above all, the nurse's number one responsibility is to deliver the most remarkable patient experience - in every dimension, every time.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Advocacy
* Serve as a clinical leader and advocate for patients and families.

* Facilitate high-quality, safe, and efficient care delivery across the clinic.

* Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address patient care and workflow challenges.

* Act as liaison between clinical departments, providers, and support services (e.g., Clinical Practice, Occupational Health, ancillary teams).

* Model professionalism and accountability within a team-based environment.

Comprehensive Assessment
* Conduct holistic patient assessments incorporating:

* Subjective and objective findings

* Physical presentation

* Psychosocial needs

* Cultural preferences

* Learning styles and health literacy

* Recognise patterns and trends to anticipate both immediate and future care needs.

* Continuously reassess and interpret patient data to inform clinical decisions.

Individualised Care Planning
* Partner with patients and their support systems to identify goals and priorities.

* Develop personalised, evidence-based care plans aligned with patient preferences.

* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate services and resources.

* Establish realistic short- and long-term outcomes and prioritise interventions accordingly.

* Modify plans proactively as patient conditions evolve.

Implementation of Care
* Deliver age-appropriate, specialty-specific nursing care in the ambulatory setting.

* Execute medical orders and nursing interventions accurately and safely.

* Perform clinical skills such as:

* IV starts and medication administration

* Dressing changes and wound care

* Injections and specimen collection

* Telephone triage and patient education

* Facilitate patient referrals and care transitions as directed.

* Provide patient and caregiver education using plain language and teach-back methods.

* Respond effectively in urgent or emergency situations, including CPR.

* Manage multiple patients while prioritising changing acuity levels.

Evaluation & Outcomes
* Continuously evaluate patient progress toward established goals.

* Seek patient and caregiver input regarding outcomes and satisfaction.

* Adjust care plans collaboratively to optimise results.

* Ensure documentation reflects clinical reasoning and patient response.

Communication & Documentation
* Communicate clearly with providers, patients, and interdisciplinary team members.

* Utilise structured communication tools (e.g., SBARQ) during handoffs and escalations.

* Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely within the EMR.

* Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and organisational standards.

Qualifications:

* Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.

* Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
* Licensure/Certification: 
* Current RN license in appropriate state, required.
* ACLS, PALS, BAT and DOT, preferred.
