Overview: Registered Nurse - Transfer Center - Methodist Shift: Part-time; 16 hours per week- 4, 8 and 12 hour variable shifts Benefits Eligible Responsibilities: * Receives, coordinates and records all patient transfer requests from referring facilities to IMMC, ILH and Blank Children's Hospitals, as well as other hospitals as assigned * Monitor all aspects of transfer through patient arrival at facility, including maintaining awareness of changes in treatment requirements of patient * Must have a working knowledge of UPH-DM hospitals, physicians, nursing units, and bed control policies * Exercise good judgment in prioritizing and expediting calls and contacting the appropriate physicians, nursing units or departments * Works in a collaborative way with both internal and external customers * Utilizes available resources appropriately * Serves as a resource for both internal and external customers * Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations * Enter real time information regarding patient transfers and patient information * Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare * Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately * This position may be assigned to back up the EMS/LifeFlight Dispatcher if necessary Qualifications: Education: * Registered Nurse Experience: * Minimum of 3 years ED or ICU nursing experience License(s) / Certifications: * Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: * Working knowledge of UPH-DM hospitals, physicians, nursing units, and bed control policies. * Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. * Multicultural sensitivity. * Microsoft Office - basic computer skills. * Customer/patient focused. * Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
