Overview: RN Acute - Radiology - Methodist UnityPoint Health Des Moines Shift: PRN; As Needed Provides nursing care for patients, participates in patient /family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with all other members of the Radiology Staff. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply nursing care when it is needed. The primary goal of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines is to provide the best possible health care to the sick and the injured. Nursing procedures performed by the Radiology Nurse contribute directly toward this goal. Responsibilities: * Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process. * Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient's care. * Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients. * Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations. * Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care. * Demonstrates professional development by keeping abreast of current nursing practice and healthcare trends Qualifications: Education: * Graduate of accredited nursing program Experience: * 1 year of hospital clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency License(s) / Certification(s): * Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. * Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications or obtain certifications within six (6) months from date of hire. * Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. * Multicultural sensitivity. * Microsoft Office - basic computer skills. * Customer/patient focused. * Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. Other: * Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. * Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities. * May drive a UPH vehicle, rental or own vehicle.
