Overview: Registered Nurse - 3 East Medical/Surgical - Lutheran Now Offering a Limited-Time $20,000 RN Sign-On Bonus! UnityPoint Health - Des Moines is offering a $20,000 sign-on bonus for full-time eligible RNs hired or offered into acute inpatient roles between April 1 and July 31, 2026, paid in milestone-based installments. Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000 for full-time offers when relocating more than 50 miles. Shifts: Days or Nights, every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation Shift differentials available for qualifying shifts Benefits Eligible 3 East is a 27-bed Medical Surgical unit that provides an enriching learning experience. Caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses including respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and stroke. 3 East provides an enriching learning experience and uses innovative care delivery to help provide holistic care to our patients by utilizing advancements in technology partnered with fundamental nursing care. We utilize evidence-based practice to make a difference in our patient care and advance critical thinking skills and nursing autonomy within our multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities: * Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process. * Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient's care. * Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients. * Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations. * Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care. * Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. * Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service. Qualifications: Education: * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program. License(s)/Certification(s): * Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa Experience: * Minimum of 12 months acute RN experience. * All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, are encouraged and required to participate in the RN Residency program.
