Overview:
Provides Support for Respiratory Therapists which does not require licensure as an RCP in the state of Washington.
Position Reports To: Clinical Manager Respiratory
Responsibilities:
* Assist the Respiratory Therapists with supportive job duties including but not limited to cleaning, stocking, and delivering equipment and supplies throughout the facility.
* Sets up and monitors portable gas tanks, including Oxygen tanks.
* Knows and always displays proper tank safety.
* Checks and restocks Oxygen tanks on all equipment.
* Maintains current BLS card.
* Performs external compression when needed in a code situation.
* Performs all aspects of cleaning and stocking of respiratory equipment including plastic disposables reusable, and machinery as well as:
* Airway carts in the ED, and pediatric units.
* Ventilators (invasive and non-invasive), BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, cough assist machines.
* Clean supply room on each floor regarding respiratory specific single patient use supplies.
* Blood gas lab on progressive care unit.
* Crash cart drawers throughout facility including Broselow carts.
* EtCO2 monitors and supplies.
* Other respiratory supplies/equipment as assigned.
* Places work orders (Biomed, Engineering, and IT) for the respiratory department and manages workflow of equipment.
* On a schedule check and maintains expiration dates of all respiratory supplies.
* Notifies the manager timely of predicted shortages of equipment, supplies, or expirations.
* Familiar with measuring devices to include, but not limited to, pulse oximeter, Wrights respirometer, and oxygen blenders.
* Maintains accuracy and good working order of these devices.
* Notifies Manager when shortage of these devices is foreseen.
* Assists with special order supplies on an as needed basis.
* Responsible for the cleaning, stocking of onboard supplies, and pre-use check of mechanical ventilators.
* Familiar with CPAP set up; Cleaning and stocking of onboard supplies for facility owned CPAP machines.
* Assists in the maintenance of the lab equipment by maintaining accurate and legible records when assigned by Quality Assurance team.
* Proper documentation in department records. Participates in staff meetings, attends lectures, conferences and seminars.
* Attends staff meetings as scheduled as evidenced by minutes of meeting
* Attends lectures, seminars as scheduled as evidenced by rosters or awarded certificates.
* Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
* All required safety education programs have been attended.
* Provides complete and accurate responses to safety questions.
* Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner as instructed.
* Maintains work area and equipment in condition required by department standards.
* Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions.
* Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens (PPE).
* Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures and correct use of protective barrier equipment.
* Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
* Attends annual education programs.
Demonstrate standards of behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
Qualifications:
Required:
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.
* Current certifications in BLS for Healthcare Providers.
Desired
* One-year Patient care experience.
