Overview: Carries out the goals of the corporate compliance program consistent with the organization's mission, vision, and organizational values. Works with department leadership to improve the compliance program's effectiveness. Position Reports To: Compliance Manager Responsibilities: * Performs forensic audits of clinical processes, documentation, billing and coding to ensure regulatory compliance and appropriate payment of services. * Coordinates efforts with the Revenue Cycle department to identify root causes of payment denials and works with department leadership to resolve clinical, documentation, or workflow issues affecting billing. * Assists in compliance investigations and provides consultative input as appropriate. * Provide compliance education and training to new providers. * Stays abreast of compliance developments in health care and its impact on the organization. Keeps department leadership aware of such changes. * Completes focused regulatory compliance audits based on organizational need, department planning, and as indicated by external audit trends. * Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrate standards of behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times. Qualifications: Required: * High School Diploma or GED. * 2-4 years of healthcare experience. * Certified Professional Coder (CPC) within one year of employment. * Strong analytical and clear communication skills. * Thorough research skills. * Ability to interpret department policies and procedures and apply them in specific situations. * Ability to develop partnerships, teamwork, and good working relationships. * Understands the complexities of a large organization - involves others as appropriate. Desired: * Healthcare regulatory experience. * Knowledge of medical coding.
