				Overview:

The Radiology Assistant Specialist will assist the healthcare team in providing excellent customer service and quality patient care by performing patient-related tasks as well as a variety of clerical duties. Responsibilities include taking basic X-ray exams, Dexa scans, patient transportation, and clerical duties.

Position Reports To: Radiology Manager/Supervisor

Responsibilities:

* Performs basic X-ray and Dexa exams as directed by the provider, in compliance with WA DOH X-ray Technician, Limited Scope license, (WAC 246-225-99920).
* Prepares patient and performs all approved exams following good radiation safety, quality assurance, and infection control procedures.
* Reviews and evaluates diagnostic images for technical quality.
* Verifies patient information and exams performed, updates and changes exam description to reflect actual exam performed.
* Utilizes PACS, RIS, and current EMR efficiently and completes the required paperwork for each examination performed.
* Maintains the cleanliness of x-ray equipment and associated minor equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. Places work orders for service. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel.
* Complies with all continuing education requirements as dictated by regulatory entities.
* Attend department meetings and participate in all annual required training and in-service training.
* Participate in Quality Improvement Programs.
* Complies with As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles, Image Gently principles, and Image Wisely pledge.
* Understand principles of correct body mechanics and can apply these in assisting patients during transfer, lifting and ambulation.
* Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

* DOH eligible for Washington State X-ray Technician Limited Scope Registration; must be registered within 6 months of hire.
* High School diploma or GED.
* Technical skills prior to employment to include typing and basic computer skills.

Desired:

* Courses specific to clerical work.
* Clerical and/or medical experience.
* Basic X-ray exam experience.
