Overview:
The Quality Assurance Coordinator performs administrative tasks in support of the Pathologist's intra and extra-departmental duties. These duties including the following: communicating with external departments, collecting, and collating data, and completing all routine administrative duties.
Position Reports To: Laboratory Director
Responsibilities:
* Management of incoming and outgoing pathology slides and blocks.
* Processing of in-house and reference lab orders, result/report entry, adding addendums to patient reports and performing follow-up on pending tasks.
* Tracking and documenting requests (legal, studies, send-out tests, consults, autopsies, ect).
* Locating and securing slides/blocks from outside facilities, as requested, and returning these materials to the original facilities in a timely manner.
* Processing reference laboratory orders.
* Assist with slide/block filing, sorting, sendouts, returns, retrievals (warehouse) and disposal.
* Inputting reference laboratory results.
* Filing slides and blocks in an orderly fashion.
* Acting as a liaison for all internal and external departments, providing status updates on cases and managing all internal and external inquires.
* Communicate problems and information to appropriate Pathologists, leads, or management.
* Assists with Bone Marrow, FNA, EUS, and EBUS procedures.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
* High school diploma or GED.
Desired:
* Associate degree and at least 1 year experience in the laboratory.
