Healthcare Protective Services Police Officer

What You'll Do
The Healthcare Protective Services Police Officer provides a safe and secure environment to support patient care and community health. This sworn Company Police role operates under NC General Statutes Chapter 74E.

Key Responsibilities:

* Patrol & Safety: Conduct foot and vehicle patrols, respond to calls, enforce laws and policies, and identify safety hazards.
* Security & Access Control: Secure facilities, monitor access, and manage patient/visitor flow.
* Emergency Response: Respond to incidents, assist clinical teams, and apply nonviolent crisis intervention techniques.
* Law Enforcement Duties: Investigate incidents, detain individuals when appropriate, complete reports, and support court proceedings.
* Customer Service: Maintain a professional presence and provide assistance to patients, visitors, and staff.

QualificationsEducation
* High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Experience
* Healthcare public safety, police, or related experience (Preferred)
Licensure & Certification (Required)
* North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification OR eligibility for certification(Includes out-of-state transfer eligibility or candidates within 90 days of BLET completion)
* Eligible for and obtain Company Police Officer certification within 1 year (NC GS 74E)
* IAHSS Basic and/or Advanced Certification within 12 months of hire
* NC-approved restrictive intervention training within 3 months of hire
* BLS/CPR certification within 90 days of hire
* Must qualify for and maintain NC Armed Security Officer Registration Permit
Additional Requirements
* Successful completion of:
* FMRT Psychological Examination
* F1 & F2 Medical Screening

* Valid driver's license and compliance with Novant Health vehicle policies
* No criminal record
* Strong communication and documentation skills
* Ability to:
* Operate radio/communication systems effectively
* Write clear, accurate reports
* Complete all required training and competency assessments

* Must immediately report any driving or criminal violations
Preferred Skills
* Prior law enforcement, security, or military experience
* Public contact/customer service experience
* Basic computer skills
