Project/Program Manager - Enterprise Technology

				Overview:

Avalara is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Technical Program Manager to join our Product Security team.  In this role you will be tasked to lead complex cross-functional initiatives that drive security outcomes for Avalara Engineering, and the larger business.  You will be responsible for managing org-wide security engineering and Pen-Test/Red-Team programs from initiation through execution, ensuring alignment between engineering, product security, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate is an expert in program delivery and has a strong technical background with a track record of TPM work in tech companies.  You will report to VP, Product Security.

Responsibilities:

Lead end-to-end execution of cross-organizational, security-related complex technical programs spanning multiple teams and functions.  

Collaborate with platform engineering, product legal, and other stakeholders to define scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria.  

Develop detailed program plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.  

Drive program execution, proactively resolving blockers, managing risks, and ensuring timely delivery.  

Establish program governance frameworks and facilitate effective decision-making forums.  

Implement and refine best practices for technical program management and cross-team collaboration.  

Serve as a technical thought partner, understanding system architectures, APIs, and engineering trade-offs.  

Qualifications:

B.S. in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related field. 

8+ years of experience in technical program management, security engineering, or related technical field. 

Proven track record of delivering large-scale software engineering programs. 

Experience with Agile, Scrum, and/or other modern software development methodologies. 

Strong technical acumen and ability to understand architectural concepts, system designs 

Domain expertise in cybersecurity, security engineering, threat modelling and/or pen-testing is a huge plus 

Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and drive clarity in complex environments. 

Possess excellent organizational, communication skills to engage executives and stakeholders
