The Project Manager serves as the Rail Systems Coordinator, overseeing the integration and coordination of all rail systems components across the project. The role involves coordinating closely with the owner, subcontractors, and technical stakeholders to support installation, testing, and commissioning activities. The Project Manager also directs and mentors on-site staff as needed, while ensuring effective communication, organization, and timely execution. Job Summary:

The Project Manager serves as the Rail Systems Coordinator, overseeing the integration and coordination of all rail systems components across the project. This includes managing interfaces related to train signaling, communications, traction power, and other critical systems to ensure seamless functionality and alignment with overall project objectives. The role involves coordinating closely with the owner, subcontractors, and technical stakeholders to support installation, testing, and commissioning activities. The Project Manager also directs and mentors on-site staff as needed, while ensuring effective communication, organization, and timely execution. The position requires strong coordination skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex system interfaces, along with solid communication and client service capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

* Responsible for the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors to ensure the safe execution of all activities, including the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs through the communication and enforcement of the Skanska Safety and Health Management Program, including the ability to independently stop work for a safety violation or suspected safety violation
* Maintain strong relationships with clients, designers and consultants
* Hiring of subcontractors/vendors including negotiations, sub agreements, material agreements and PO's
* Engage, hire, manage third party resources (engineering, subject matter experts, consultants, etc.)
* Management of subcontractors and vendors schedule, performance, and payments
* Ensure compliance with project and Skanska's DBE compliance program
* Chair project meetings, including project team, owner and subcontractors meetings
* Complete understanding of the contract including Skanska's contractual obligations and the owners obligations
* Identify Project Risk and develop Mitigation Plans
* Ensure timely notices as required to the owner to protect Skanska interests regarding extra work, design changes, delays, impacts, etc.
* Manage project claims in collaboration with Skanska's Legal Department
* Project submittals, process RFIs & shop drawings, as required by the Owner
* Manage and coordinate onsite staff
* Manage the project budget utilizing Skanska's Cost Control Systems
* Compile reports regarding financial, schedule and production reports for the Project Executive
* Prepare and coordinate payments from owner and ensure timely payments
* Develop and maintain the project schedule in sync with the project budget
* Develop and maintain site logistics plan with Superintendent staff
* Ensure the project delivers a quality product meeting Skanska's high quality standards

Education and Experience:

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree - Construction or Engineering or equivalent experience . 
* 7+ years prior relevant experience.
* 10+ years of experience with rail system integration
* 5 years of experience with rail and bridge work 
* Experience with train signals 
* Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and tactics within one project or job area.
* Advance knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.

* Thorough understanding of Lump Sum, Design Build and EPC contracts
* Exhibits strong leadership qualities
* Excellent time management and organizational skills
* Strong understanding of financial operations and corporate cost control
* Computer proficient and the ability to adapt to new innovations and processes

* Strong math/accounting and estimating skills
* Exceptional understanding of construction industry

* Contract Management: Reviews, executes and manages the client's prime contract as well as subcontracts and vendor agreements. This includes facilitating, administering and participating in contract discussions, reviews and negotiations with all relevant contracting parties.

* Risk and Opportunity Management: Identifies potential risks related to operations, contracts, or project execution. Develops mitigation plans and strategies to control the impact of negative situations or to maximize opportunities throughout the life cycle of a project.
* Change Order Management : Follows financial implications of contracts and agreements to protect the company's interests and rights. Identifies compensable changes and follows the contract provisions to timely resolution.
* Project Cost Management: Monitors, tracks, and forecasts self-perform and subcontractor project costs and quantities, including labor, equipment, and materials to ensure projects are successful and profitable.
* Subcontractor Oversight: Monitors, inspects and ensures subcontractors are performing the work safely, are adhering to schedule, and are producing quality work in line with subcontractor agreements and our client contract obligations.
* Building and Construction Knowledge & Planning: Applies building and construction knowledge, utilizing experience and current developments in the industry to prepare detailed construction sequence plans including all necessary material, equipment and labor.

Has demonstrated proficiency in:

* Plans and Specifications: Reads and interprets construction plans and the technical specifications to aid in constructability review. Ensures submittals are approved prior to proceeding with work.
* Safety: Ensures the safe execution of all work activities and ensures adherence to our safety regulations to protect all individuals. Verifies and coordinates work activities to comply with Skanska EHS program and corrects unsafe activities, actions and conditions.
* Design Management: Manages design development process and interfaces between design and construction to ensure and issue determinations on the constructability of deliverables
* Quality Management: Establishes processes to meet quality standards. Monitors work practices to identify concerns or issues that do not meet these quality standards. Follows contract provisions for necessary corrective action.
