What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a Project Engineer, Roadways to join ourTransportation team in Toronto, ON. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

Join GFT's Roads & Highways team in Toronto as a Project Engineer and play a leading role in shaping transportation infrastructure that enhances community connectivity and sustainable growth. You'll collaborate in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment and manage projects that contribute to safe, efficient, and resilient travel networks across the Greater Toronto Area. 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

* Leading and managing the planning, preliminary design, and detailed design phases of roadway and highway infrastructure projects.

* Preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, sketches, and layouts using advanced civil design platforms.

* Producing 2D and 3D engineering documentation using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and InRoads/OpenRoads as part of our ongoing digital transformation.

* Ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal engineering standards and regulations.

* Writing and contributing to technical documentation including design reports, feasibility studies, design criteria, and proposals.

* Conducting and overseeing site inspections and investigations to inform and validate design solutions.

* Collaborating directly with clients, attending meetings, and providing technical guidance and insights.

* Mentoring junior team members and contributing to a supportive and innovative team environment.

Qualifications:

What you will bring to our firm: 

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.

* Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.

* 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in roadway, highway, or transit infrastructure design, including internships or co-op placements.

* Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation with InRoads/OpenRoads.

* Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles and the ability to apply them in practical design solutions.

* Experience with engineering design and drawing production workflows for transportation projects.

* Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

What we prefer you bring:
* Familiarity with provincial (e.g., MTO) and municipal roadway design standards and practices.

* Demonstrated experience in client coordination, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional collaboration.

* Experience in preparing and overseeing construction cost estimates, tender packages, and contract documentation.

* Interest in innovative practices such as digital delivery, BIM for infrastructure, and sustainability in design.

* A proactive mindset and the initiative to foster continuous improvement and mentorship within the team.

Compensation:

Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
