Overview: Reports To: Division Director, BROOKLYN COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS Location: 105 Tech Place, Brooklyn, New York 11201 Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt (Sep-June: Monday-Thursday 1-9 pm and Friday 9 am- 5pm. July-August: Mon-Fri 7:30 am-3:30 pm) Salary: $65,000 - $72,000/Year + Benefits Job Summary: The Program Director oversees the Downtown Brooklyn Young Adult Borough Center (YABC), which is located inside of Westinghouse High School. The YABC is a youth development, educational, social and work support program for 250 students ages 17-21, annually, including planning and coordinating program components and extensive collaboration with Department of Education (DOE) Personnel. Major Duties: * Oversee administration and development of the YABC program. * Supervise, train, and evaluate staff of the YABC. * Develop and maintain a strong rapport with program participants and community/school-based partners. * Collaborate with Good Shepherd Services and external programs to identify participants for the YABC. * Maintain close collaboration with Assistant Principal and other NYCPS staff. * Foster team building through staff meetings, trainings, and activities. * Develop relevant resources and linkages for participants. * Recruit and enroll youth to the YABC. * Participate in supervisory, team and partner meetings as required. * Attend NYCPS and other external partner meetings to collaborate for the benefit of increasing opportunities, access and resources across academic, employment and social emotional learning spheres. * Participate in internal committees, workgroups, focus groups and/or director level groups that often address larger agency needs as it regards program, staffing, and performance/competency frameworks. * Ensure that contractual requirements are met. * Participate in program evaluation activities. * Implement program wide events, trips, and groups. * Create a budget plan that aligns with proposed fiscal forecasting and monitor spending throughout fiscal year to ensure monies are going towards proper student and programmatic needs. * Carry a small caseload of participants, when necessary. * Perform statistical, narrative, and record keeping duties as required. * Collaborate with the Good Shepherd Services support departments to analyze data and outcomes for the programs. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in similar field required. Master's Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, or other related fields preferred are encouraged to apply. * Experience with the young adult population in a school, vocational, or employment setting required. * 3+ years of experience in program administration, development and supervision a plus. * Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice a plus. * Knowledge of and passion for Racial and Social Justice a plus. * Must have excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. * Must be able to work evenings during the school year (Sept-June). * Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth, family, and community development perspective.
