Overview: In addition to their primary function as a machine operator, the Production Team Leader assists the Value Stream Team Manager in fulfilling the production plan, placing an emphasis on scrap reduction. This position is available on D Shift in the Extrusion Department. This is an internal job posting and bid closes on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Responsibilities: * Assist the Value Stream Team Manager in maintaining a consistent flow of product through the production process that is in agreement with the planned level of production * Facilitate daily team meetings, plan product changes, color changes and start ups, arrange for assistance from support depts., etc. * Actively participate in the Non-conformance process as a contributor to identifying preventative action * Assist in coordinating the timely completion of all scheduled clean ups and preventive maintenance activities * Assist in troubleshooting under the direction of a Process Technician * Assist in training of new and experienced operators in new and existing procedures on the production floor * Participate in procedure review meetings to make revisions to SOPs * Communicate shift-to-shift information to Value Stream Team Leader on following shift * Coordinate resource allocation within the value stream and with other Value Stream Team Leaders, if necessary * Run weekly 5S meetings and coordinate completion of resulting tasks * Perform machine and area 5S audits * Coordinate reaction to final test and in-process rejections * Coordinate the processing of rejected material in the value stream * Responsible for leadership, coaching, and support of 10-20 team members Qualifications: * Experience required: * Minimum of 2 years experience as a machine operator * Must possess a valid certification in one or more departments * Must have a history of complying with documentation requirements * Must have a history of self-sufficiency when operating equipment * Willingness to gain certification in new (other) operations * Willingness to participate in and lead continuous improvement efforts * Familiarity of manufacturing SOP's and a demonstrated willingness to adhere to them, or, revise them accordingly
