Location: Remote OK (If living within 31 miles of Tustin, CA or Austin, TX will need to be able to work 2 days on-site)

Overview:

The Product Owner partners with Product Managers to assess value, understand stakeholder needs, and prioritize user stories that align to our product strategy. While the Product Manager focuses more on strategic planning, the Product Owner is execution-focused - supporting the delivery of features through clear requirements, strong backlog management, and active participation in Agile ceremonies.

This role supports a portfolio of platforms that enable internal communications and customer engagement across channels such as email, SMS, and contact centers. As a core member of the Scrum team, the Product Owner translates business needs into well-defined stories, collaborates closely with Engineering and QA, and helps ensure consistent, high-quality delivery. They bring a solid understanding of the technologies in play and contribute meaningfully to discussions around technical enablers, dependencies, and long-term scalability.

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys working collaboratively across teams, translating business needs into deliverable work, and supporting the development of technology solutions that enhance internal operations and customer interactions. It offers the opportunity to strengthen product ownership skills while playing a key role in day-to-day delivery.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories and product requirements.
* Own the backlog for assigned areas within the communications technology ecosystem, ensuring alignment with business priorities and team capacity.
* Maintain a well-groomed backlog that supports up to 2-3 sprints, with defined features, stories, and acceptance criteria.
* Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., planning, standups, refinements, retrospectives) to support team clarity and alignment.
* Work cross-functionally to support delivery of features that improve internal communication workflows, customer engagement, or agent-facing tools.
* Partner with QA and Engineering to clarify requirements, unblock development, and ensure a shared understanding of scope and quality.
* Assist with QA/UAT when needed.
* Coordinate with other product teams to manage dependencies across CRMs, middleware platforms, and voice or messaging systems.
* Support issue triage and production prioritization efforts in collaboration with Engineering.
* Contribute to process improvement efforts within the team that improve delivery, visibility, and collaboration.
* Build subject matter expertise in supported platforms and serve as a resource for your product areas.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
* 3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an Agile software development environment.
* Proven experience managing backlogs and delivering features in collaboration with engineering, design, and QA teams.
* Familiarity with communications technology platforms such as CRM integrations, messaging systems, middleware, or contact center tools.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly translate business needs into technical requirements.
* Experience working in cross-functional teams with Engineering, QA, and Design.
* Comfortable working in Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and using backlog management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira).
* Demonstrated ability to develop subject matter expertise and serve as a resource to peers and stakeholders.
* Prior experience in mortgage, financial services, or other regulated industries is a plus.
* Exposure to Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) is a plus.
