Responsibilities:
GFT is looking for an experienced Principal Environmental Compliance Specialist to coordinate and conduct environmental site investigations, monitoring programs, due diligence studies, and compliance audits and inspections for transit, transportation, and other infrastructure projects to join our growing Environmental Team in Mechanicsburg.

GFT's Environmental team delivers integrated planning, permitting, and compliance solutions that support infrastructure development across North America. Our team guides clients through Environmental Assessments and permitting processes, ecological and regulatory assessments, and environmental remediation efforts on projects that span transportation, power, water, and facilities markets. From environmental approvals to complex planning solutions, GFT helps clients protect resources, manage risk, and meet regulatory requirements with confidence.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
* Lead Environmental and/or Healthy & Safety Audits by assessing an organization's environmental performance, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.
* Take an active role in the development of new business, including business development strategies for both new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate new or repeat business.
* Carry out evaluations of waste management, energy consumption, pollution control, and/or sustainability practices; identify risks, and recommend improvements. Assist clients in minimizing their environmental footprint and meeting applicable regulatory requirements.
* Design and execute audits, including both compliance audits (assessing adherence to regulations) and management performance audits (evaluating the effectiveness of management systems).
* Conduct on-site visits to gather evidence, interview staff, review documentation, and assess how well requirements are being met and/or direct other environmental team members to conduct such site visits.
* Identifying non-compliance by analyzing data, identify violations of environmental regulations, and detect inefficiencies in environmental management practices.
* Evaluate potential environmental risks associated with an organization's operations and ensure appropriate management methods are in place.
* Compile findings into comprehensive reports, outlining areas of non-compliance, potential risks, and recommending corrective actions for improvement.
* Play a role in promoting sustainable practices, helping organizations reduce their environmental impact and comply with evolving environmental laws and standards, where applicable.
* Perform project management duties on environmental compliance / auditing projects by monitoring budget, scope and schedule and being accountable for project performance.
Qualifications:
What you will bring to our firm:
* Bachelor's degree in either Environmental Engineering or Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
* Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience (preferably in a consulting role).
What we prefer you bring:
* Experience playing a lead role in business development and pursuits related to environmental compliance and auditing opportunities, including preparation of strategic Business Development & Growth Plans, sales strategy, capture planning, and proposal preparation.
* Ability to lead the preparation of technical proposals and fee estimates as part of securing new work.
* Experience in leading and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables.
* Comprehensive working knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, regulations, permits guidelines, and industry best practices.
* Excellent project management skills: ability to manage complex projects, timelines, and budgets.
* Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate within a team environment.
* Demonstrated leadership and conflict resolution skills.
* Proficient with MS Office Suite
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $190,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
