Summary: Working within the remit and targets developed by our International Boarding College management, the Principal contributes to the professional leadership and management of the school, ensuring the successful growth and continuous improvement of the school. The post-holder oversees the daily operation of the school, and challenges, influences and motivates staff and students to deliver outstanding performance. He/she upholds and actively promotes our commitment to integrity, accountability and an aspiration for excellence. Our schools are newly-founded. The challenge for management is to develop and maintain a highly professional ethos within a rapidly-growing school environment in which a pioneering spirit is essential. About You: *The Principal's effective leadership is defined by integrity, clear and open communication, high standards, and an understanding of the needs and interests of students and parents, and staff. *Your personal profile enables you to act as an ambassador for the school. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and relate positively to students, staff and parents, inspiring them with confidence in the school. *You have the ability to analyse problems, reach sound conclusions and resolve issues effectively. *You have a proven capacity to respond to changing needs with vision, and to translate vision into practical reality. You have a strong commitment to quality and sharing best practices in learning and teaching. *You have a higher-level understanding of, and interest in developing academic best practices in the context of a secondary, cross-cultural institution and pathways to higher education. *You have a mature understanding of the need for a pastoral infrastructure which supports both academic progress and the development of life skills in young people. *You have a working knowledge and understanding of planning and reporting. You have a higher level understanding of and experience using information and communication technology to enhance teaching and learning, leadership and management. *You have an interest in and willingness to engage Chinese contemporary culture; knowledge of Mandarin is a plus. *You enjoy working under pressure in a fast paced environment. *You are optimistic, resilient, and have a well-developed sense of proportion and humour. ***You must be able to commit to a three year contract*** Necessary Experience: *The delivery of British National Curriculum and IGCSE English. *Whole-school EAL programmes. *Post-16 EAL programmes which enable foreign students to access UK (etc.) universities (to include IELTS). *Knowledge of alternative EAL curricula and qualifications *Knowledge of recent developments in teaching and learning Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher Teaching credential in your home country (A-level or IGCSE) Native speaker of English, preferably from the UK. Native speakers from Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa will also be considered.
