Overview:
As a Licensed Plumber, you will perform advanced-level plumbing work, as assigned by Plant Engineering Services leadership, to maintain and extend the service life of hospital assets. Your work directly supports safe, reliable operations in a healthcare environment where patients, families, and clinical teams depend on fully functioning systems every day.

Responsibilities:
* Perform advanced commercial plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair work
* Maintain plumbing, mechanical, utility, and building systems in a safe, operational condition
* Install, repair, and maintain medical gas systems, including medical air, oxygen, vacuum, nitrogen, compressed air, and nitrous oxide
* Troubleshoot plumbing and mechanical issues using testing equipment and analytical problem-solving
* Support and maintain RO systems and rehab pool systems
* Install and repair various commercial kitchen equipment
* Evaluate plumbing systems for performance, efficiency, and improvement opportunities
* Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
* Ensure compliance with life safety, plumbing, and building codes
* Collaborate with Plant Engineering leadership and healthcare teams to support hospital operations
Qualifications:
Education
* High school diploma, required
* One (1) year of vocational or technical school, required
Licensure & Certifications
* City or county Journeyman's Card and/or State Plumber's License, required
* Valid North Carolina Driver's License (NCDL), required
Experience
* Five (5)+ years of experience in commercial plumbing installation and maintenance, required
Required Skills & Knowledge
* Strong working knowledge of plumbing, building, and life safety codes
* Advanced ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing and mechanical systems using testing equipment
* Demonstrated experience with medical gas systems, including medical air, oxygen, vacuum, nitrogen, compressed air, and nitrous oxide
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
* Experience installing and repairing commercial kitchen equipment
* Ability to assess plumbing systems for performance, reliability, and efficiency improvements
Preferred Qualifications
* Healthcare facility experience, strongly preferred
* Experience with RO systems and rehab pools, required
* Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems
* Basic computer skills and experience using PC-based programs
* Ability to recognize and respond to changes in equipment and system sounds
