Overview:
General Position Summary
The Plant/Shop Laborer assists and takes direction from the Plant/Shop Manager and/or the Shop Foreman, as needed in their day-to day-operations. Duties include performing simple mechanical equipment repair and maintenance tasks for the shop and plant. He/she is responsible for delivery of parts and task work as required, in addition to loading and unloading trailers to support the various projects.
Responsibilities:
Major Duties & Responsibilities
* Responsible for the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs through the
communication and enforcement of the Skanska Safety and Health Management Program
* Prepares orders by processing requests from the projects; palletizing material, packing boxes, etc.
* Ensures all tools and rigging are inspected before being sent to a project and again when returned
* Performs monthly tool and rigging inspections for the shop/plant inventory
* Tool repair
* Loads and unloads trucks for deliveries to and from the projects
* Maintains inventory of the shop and plant material and supplies
* Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations organized and maintained
* Contributes to a team environment

Skills & Abilities
* Ability to perform simple mechanical equipment repairs
* Ability to identify most mechanical and electrical rig components
* Ability to operate a fork lift
* Valid driver's license
Education and/or Experience
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Construction Experience a plus
* Warehouse Experience a plus
