Overview:
The Physician is responsible for assessing and providing medical care to patients in collaboration with the Nurse Manager- Health Services & PI and ARNPs, and ensuring the smooth flow of consultations and referrals between medical staff. This position also includes on-call responsibilities for the provision of medical care outside of regular business hours. The physician must ensure timely and accurate documentation of all assessments and treatment decisions.
Responsibilities:
* Conducts initial and ongoing physical assessments of patients, provides referrals as needed, and ensures complete and accurate documentation of assessments.
* Provides oversight and clinical guidance to ARNPs and ensures proper patient care through ongoing monitoring and consultations with psychiatric staff.
* Provides education on Substance Use Disorder (SUD) diagnoses to patients and their families.
* Collaborates effectively with staff in other disciplines and adheres to special precautions and safety procedures.
* Provides on-call coverage for after-hours care of patients and makes appropriate referrals for tests and consultations.
Qualifications:
Education
* Medical doctorate (MD) from an accredited university.
Experience
* Two (2) years post residency clinical experience in an inpatient setting, psychiatric experience referred.
Licenses/Certifications
* Licensed in the state of employment. Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and applicable certifications. Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine.
* Must have or be willing to obtain DATA 2000 Waiver prior to employment.
