Overview: The staff Physical Therapist is responsible for patient examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic intervention. The staff Physical Therapist practices within the scope of the profession of Physical Therapy for adult and pediatric patients. Responsibilities: * Participates in interdisciplinary task forces and committees * Participates in performance improvement activities * Contributes to program development * Participates in hospital and department provided inservices and community education * Participates in development and education of colleagues * Promotes a greater understanding of rehabilitation and of Physical Therapy in the hospital and community * Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development in clinical practice, regulatory and fiscal issues Basic UPH Performance Criteria * Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. * Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. * Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. * Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. * Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. * Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Qualifications: * Meets educational requirements as necessary for obtaining professional license in Physical Therapy * Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Physical Therapist in Iowa. * Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire. * Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. * Multicultural sensitivity. * Microsoft Office - basic computer skills. * Customer/patient focused. * Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. * Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
