Overview: Specialty Pharmacy Technician Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5PM Full Time Benefits Receives and processes prescription referrals received by the Specialty Pharmacy including data entry, insurance processing, and prior authorization completion for specialty medications. Understands pharmacy benefit and medical benefit claims submission process for reimbursement of prescription medications. Communicates with patients/caregivers, insurance company representatives, and other members of the healthcare team for patients to initiate and continue therapy. Responsibilities: Assess individual patient needs and match them with UnityPoint at Home services; coordinate with the home care team as needed. Process incoming prescription orders, verify benefits, and obtain authorization for specialty medications. Run test claims through pharmacy software to determine insurance options; communicate with patients, caregivers, and healthcare team. Specialize in specialty pharmacy services while maintaining basic knowledge of all service lines. Initiate and coordinate prior authorization requests; follow up with third-party payers. Collect insurance information, run test claims, and obtain medical records for prior authorizations. Re-verify eligibility and benefits at the start of a new benefit year. Provide customer service and coordinate medication delivery via calls, email, and messaging. Use pharmacy dispensing software and electronic health records to manage patient information. Maintain positive relationships with providers and referral sources. Ensure excellent customer service and uphold UPAH's high-quality standards. Stay informed about relevant regulations and maintain compliance. Perform patient follow-up calls as directed. Participate in on-call duties, including weekends and holidays. Refer clinical questions to appropriate staff; perform other duties as needed. Maintain regular attendance and adhere to company mission, vision, and values. Comply with OSHA, accreditation standards, risk management guidelines, and personnel policies. Complete communication tasks promptly and professionally; stay informed about UnityPoint at Home programs and initiatives. Qualifications: Education: * High school diploma or equivalent Experience: * One year of medical experience; preferably in community home health or pharmacy License(s)/Certification(s): * Nationally certified pharmacy technician registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (or registered as technician trainee if not yet certified) * Registered Pharmacy Support * Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Strong interpersonal skills * Strong problem-solving skills with previous customer service experience * Basic knowledge of computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel) and operations Other: Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. #UPaHomeNursing
