				Overview:

The Pharmacy Support Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the pharmacy. This role involves assisting pharmacy staff with non-clinical tasks such as inventory management, data entry, cleaning, customer service, general clerical duties and pickup and delivery of pharmacy medications/or items.

Responsibilities:

Delivery of Medical Supplies

* Transports incoming and outgoing parcels, mail, supplies, medications and goods to locations inside and outside of UnityPoint Health.
* Ensures items transported are properly labeled and packaged prior to transport to ensure safety of driver and goods.
* Uses logs and to confirm time of delivery and/or receipt of goods transported.
* Maintains order and cleanliness in all areas worked.
* Participates on teams to enhance team member satisfaction, analyze workflow and work toward continued efficiency improvements.
* Works closely with others to ensure supplies are available timely in the correct location.

Pharmacy Support

* Assists pharmacy team as needed. This can include stocking supplies in inventory or customer areas, assisting at the drive-up window and other support person duties.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

* Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
* Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
* Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
* Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
* Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Registered as a support person with the Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.
* Ability to work accurately and quickly with numerous interruptions.
* Ability to maintain a clean, orderly work environment using efficient processes.
* Must be able to work safely with minimal supervision and assume timely completion of duties.
* Performs basic math calculations.
* Communicate effectively in person and via phone.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
* Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position including motor vehicles and carts.
