Responsibilities:

The Pharmacy Residency is a one-year training position for graduate pharmacists, encompassing residents in their first year of general practice. As members of the health care team, residents will be accountable for achieving optimal medication therapy outcomes, and will exercise skill in educating other health care professionals and patients on medication related topics. Residents will also ensure informatics, technology and VMPS Lean methodology will be used to improve patient care processes.

Fully licensed Resident Pharmacists may engage in the Practice of Pharmacy and provide the supervision of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Interns in any Virginia Mason location for which they have received training including but not limited to Inpatient, Oncology Infusion, OR, and Investigational Drug Service.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Pharm D or B.S. in Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy with relevant practice experience. The resident must be licensed as a registered pharmacist or be actively pursuing pharmacist licensure in the State of Washington. If not licensed (in the State of Washington) upon hire, Pharmacist licensure must be obtained within 90 days or before October 1st. Pharmacy Residents may engage in the Practice of Pharmacy to the degree permitted by their level of licensure. Skills required: Clinical pharmacology knowledge; pharmacy operation skills; written and verbal communication skills; organization and prioritization ability as well as teamwork and leadership skills.
