Position Overview:We are seeking a motivated and dependable Pharmacy Extern to join our Meds2Beds Program on a weekend-only basis. This role supports timely medication delivery and patient education for those being discharged from the hospital, playing a key role in reducing readmissions and improving patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver prescribed medications directly to discharged patients.
* Provide patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence.
* Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and care teams to ensure smooth patient transitions.
* Accurately document prescriptions and patient interactions in compliance with hospital and pharmacy protocols.
* Provide coverage during weekends and holidays as needed.
Qualifications:
* Enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy program.
* Holds a valid pharmacy intern/extern license.
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Detail-oriented and committed to patient-centered care.
Schedule:
* Weekends Only (Saturday and Sunday)

* Occasional holiday coverage required

Responsibilities:
The Pharmacy Extern is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medications.
* Under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions.
* May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department.
* Receives and stores incoming supplies.
* Verifies stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
* Completes all required documentation.
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Education: Enrollment in or recent graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy
* Experience: 0 years's experience
* Licenses/Certifications: Valid pharmacy intern/extern license in the state of practice AND Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
