Responsibilities:

As a Perinatal Tech, you will provide essential support and compassionate care to expectant mothers and newborns, ensuring a safe and comforting environment throughout the perinatal period.

Every day you will expertly assist with patient admissions and discharges, monitor vital signs, prepare labor and delivery rooms, and meticulously document observations to support nursing staff and clinical teams in providing optimal maternal and infant care.

To be successful, you will demonstrate outstanding attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a gentle, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to positive birth experiences and the well-being of new families.

* Technical skills: competence in psychomotor skills and technical procedures. For pre-operative processes: aseptic technique in preparing for and assisting with surgical procedures, ensuring sterile field integrity is maintained. Perform hand scrub according to unit structure standards. For intra-operative procedures: set-up and maintain back table in sterile, organized manner. Obtain/maintain adequate supplies for surgeon, anticipate needs and actively participate in surgical procedure. Perform count of sponges, needles and instruments at the direction of the circulating RN. For postoperative procedures: isolate sharps to facilitate safe handling by assistants. Assist with disposal of all used supplies, sharps, linen and waste, using Body Substance Isolation procedure. Take used equipment to cleaning area. Help prepare the room for the next case.
* Demonstrate ability to assist all team members in the performance of procedures. Perform job duties of unit assistant as directed to meet needs of patient/unit. Demonstrate proficiency with Health Information Systems, supply orders, departmental data/reports relating to job duties.
* Documentation: perform legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures, including completion of birth certificates and other medical/legal forms. Demonstrate proficiency and competence with the computerized documentation system.
* Organizational Skills: Use appropriate organization, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
* Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively using proper communication etiquette. Use medical terminology accurately.
* Self Development: Employee will be accountable for self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development. Participate in relevant in-service programs and continuing education activities.

Qualifications:

Required

* High School Graduate Operation Room/OB Scrub/Perinatal Tech experience of 1 year, upon hire or
* High School GED, upon hire
* Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
