				Overview:

Merrick & Company, an employee-owned engineering and architectural firm headquartered in Colorado, is seeking a Payroll Administrator II to help ensure timely, accurate payroll processing in compliance with regulations and company policies. This role involves union payrolls and collaboration with UKG and HR. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the ideal candidate will have strong process skills, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to learn.

Typical pay hourly range for this position is $30.00 - $39.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Responsibilities:

* Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing for assigned locations, handling associated administrative tasks.
* Accurate preparation, documentation, distribution, and reconciliation of bi-weekly payroll:
* Review weekly time sheets submitted by employees for appropriate approvals and adherence to government and company guidelines.
* Enter payroll changes into the UKG system.
* Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

* Respond to and resolve inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting.
* Provide records and documentation as requested to aid with audits.
* Transparently communicate with team and supervisors so all are working toward same department goals.
* Act as a backup for other members of the department to ensure departmental coverage when needed. 
* Support Accounting, HR, and other departments in projects and tasks as needed to complete Payroll-related inquiries.
* Write process documents for duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

* Two (2) to three (3) years of payroll and accounting related experience. 
* Attention to detail, critical thinking and accuracy.
* Ability to read and interpret various types of documentation, including reports. 
* Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills; this role will interact with all levels throughout the organization.
* Confidentiality is critical; this role requires managing individual communications related to employees' personal financial situations.
* Intermediate skills in preparing, navigating, and analyzing Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations.
* Articulation of verbal and written communication.
* Proven ability to learn new systems quickly.
* Ability to maintain focus in a cubicle/open office setting.
* This position is dependent upon successful completion of a credit check.
