Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

Employing excellent customer service skills the Patient Registration Representative Apprenticeship will provide on-the-job experience for those looking to develop a career in patient registration. This person will learn how to ensure a positive patient experience throughout the registration process in multiple areas of registration. They will insure appropriate reimbursement for services rendered primary duties taught will include:

 a.) Appropriate patient identification

b.) Collecting accurate and thorough patient demographic data

c.) Obtaining insurance information and verifying eligibility and benefits

d.) Determining and collecting patient financial liability

e.) Referring patients to the Patient Registration Specialist as needed for assistance with financial counseling and/or clearance

The Patient Registration Representative Apprentice will work side-by-side with a Registration Representative assigned to them to ensure they adhere to the organizations policies and procedures for resolution of patient financial liability. Additionally the Patient Registration Representative Apprentice will learn to be an information source for patients and patients families by explaining hospital policies patient financial responsibilities and Patient Rights and Responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:  This is a temporary position.

* High school diploma GED or equivalent
* Minimum 6 months of customer-facing customer experience working role either employed or as a volunteer basis
* Attention to detail
* Ability to multi-task in a hectic environment
* Excellent communication skills
* Desire to learn revenue cycle in a health care environment
* Ability to work with other financial and clinical departments
* Familiar with multiple computer systems.
