The Wound Care Technician works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and is responsible for assisting nurses and licensed independent practitioners with a variety of direct and indirect patient care. The individual must possess knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures and demonstrate competency in following pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of this position. Must possess the ability to render care and treatment for all age patients- young adults through geriatrics. Assists with patient flow in the department and promotes a clean and safe environment for patients and team members. Responsibilities: * Escorts or moves patients into clean rooms and measures vital signs; Provides this information to the nurses. * Prepares examination rooms, supplies and instruments for use. * Supports the nursing team with regards to the location of patient educational materials in the Center for Wound Healing. * Prepares patients for examinations and removes dressings. * Uses CPR skills when required. * Maintains supplies, equipment, stocking and sterilization of instruments. * Practices OSHA safety standards. * Triage patient phone calls as directed by the licensed independent practitioner or the office coordinator. * Performs other duties as assigned which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but may be altered or redesigned depending on individual circumstances. * Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs, pushes or pulls a minimum of 25lbs, carries up to 25 pounds, and stands a minimum of 5 hours per day; Is able to lift or move patients and can bend from the waist to lift and move boxes. * Other duties and/or projects as assigned. * Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. * Basic math and literacy skills. Knowledge of common hospital equipment used in patient care. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: * Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program, Patient Care Technician Program or completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing Program from an accredited school of nursing. * Minimum of 1 year or more of experience in health care is preferred. * Minimum of 1 or more years of experience in customer service or patient care preferred. Licenses and Certifications Required: * AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification. Licenses and Certifications Preferred: * Certificate from a Nursing Assistant Program or Patient Care Technician Program.
