Overview: Patient Care Technician - Emergency Department - Methodist West UnityPoint Health Des Moines Shifts: Full-Time 36 hours/week, Nights, 7p-7a and/or 3p-3a Full-Time 32 hours/week, Evening/Nights, 11a-7a, holiday and every 3rd weekend rotation(11a-11p) Part-Time 24 hours/week, 11a-11p varied/flex hours Shifts include every 3rd or 4th weekend and holiday rotation Benefits Eligible Full-Time Sign-On Bonus: $3,000 paid over 1 year Under the supervision of an RN provides direct patient care. Performs procedures for patients and provides technical services and support. Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, improved patient care, and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families. Responsibilities: * PCT performs patient care and treatments under supervision of a RN. * Provides and documents care including, but not limited to, activities of daily living, mobility, specimen collection and respiratory support activities as directed by the RN. * Possess the ability to lift, move, position and transport patients. * Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule. * Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service. Qualifications: Education: Basic CNA Course or EMT-B Certification Experience: Previous emergency department experience preferred License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multiculture sensitivity. Microsoft Office - basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused.
