Patient Care Technician-5 Medical/Surgical

				Overview:

Patient Care Tech - 5 Med/Surg

Part-time, .40 FTE (16 hours/week)

Evenings, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, holiday and every other weekend rotation

The 5 Medical/Surgical unit is a 20-bed unit. Staff primarily care for adult patients who are recovering from surgery, but may also care for those that are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems and disease. The primary patient population on this unit is general surgery and total joint replacements (i.e. hip and knee).

Responsibilities:

The Patient Care Tech role at Finley is a CNA role, which assists with patient bathing, takes vitals, performs blood sugar finger sticks, assists patients with eating, passes and picks up trays, answers call lights, and assists nurses as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: 

* High School Diploma/GED or currently and actively working towards completion of diploma/GED
* Prefer successful completion of Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program with active registration on Iowa Direct Care Registry, but not required

License(s)/Certification(s): 

* Must possess and maintain current Basica Life Support (BLS) certification or within three (3) months from date of hire
