Overview: Paramedic (Ground Ambulance) UnityPoint Health - Allen Shift: Full-time; 12 HR Shifts Benefits Eligible Potential Sign On Bonus: $5,000 paid out over 1 year As a member of our interdisciplinary team, contributes professional prehospital EMS knowledge and skills to patients and their families. Maintains excellent patient service skills, is able to work well under pressure, and make quick decisions about patient health. Provides a level of care outlined by the State of Iowa Scope of Practice in accordance with their state EMS certification level and hospital policies and procedures. Responsibilities: * Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate prehospital/interfacility medical care. * Adapts and adjusts the patient's care plan according to the patient's needs in the prehospital setting. * Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care. * Carries out high quality patient care while following the scope of practice set out by the State of Iowa Public Health Department Bureau of EMS and this ambulance service. * Must be able to transport a behavioral health patient utilizing an ambulance. * Documents daily, weekly, and monthly ambulance/secure car checks to ensure proper stock levels of equipment and supplies. * Prepares the ambulances by ensuring they are cleaned and in a state of readiness. Qualifications: Education: * High school graduate or equivalent. * Successful completion of EMS training from an approved training course. Licensure/Certification: * Current certification at EMT-PM level is required. * Valid Iowa driver's license for at least three years with an acceptable or clear rating according to the Motor Vehicle Record chart. (see below). * Must have a minimum of two years driving experience with no record of DUI, DWI, or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past five years. * No record of reckless driving, careless driving, speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit, fleeing or eluding a police officer, chemical test refusal, leaving the scene of an accident, driving after revocation or suspension, or passing a stopped school bus in the last five years. Experience: * Previous EMS experience preferred
