				Overview:

The Lewis Center for the Arts seeks technical support for Drawing and Painting classes in the Program in Visual Arts. This position provides technical support in the classrooms, as well as hands-on assistance for both faculty and students inside and outside of class time. 

The position oversees supply inventory and the procurement of supplies, as well as the preparation and maintenance of the classrooms and related equipment. This position also provides in-class support, including technical demos, hands-on assistance with set up of still lives, and support of required safety and hazardous waste collection procedures. This is a temporary, part-time 16-hour/2 days a week position. The hourly rate is $25-35.

Responsibilities:

Classroom Responsibilities include: 

* Assist with set up at the start of each semester and clean up at the end of each semester
* Maintain compliance with Fire Code, OSHA and Hazardous Material Safety standards 
* Maintain Inventory and order supplies as needed, and update Material Safety Data Sheets
* Confirm that all furniture, lights and equipment are organized and in good working order
* Maintain gesso table, organize shelves, closets and props
* Keep area outside of the painting and drawing studios uncluttered and clean
* Work with the Visual Arts staff regarding the removal of Hazardous Waste and Trash 

Technical Support includes: 

* Perform Demos and Workshops as requested on various Painting and Drawing processes and procedures 
* Provide solutions to technical questions, as well as hands on assistance 
* Maintain Stretcher/Supports Library 

Qualifications:

Candidates should have technical knowledge of the craft of painting and drawing that includes how to prepare various grounds, the uses of a variety of mediums in oil and acrylic, and how to build stretchers and other painting supports. They should be adept at working with faculty and a student population and organizing a classroom
