***This position is physically located in The Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP*** 

The Painter (Marine II) is responsible for general painting and associated duties to maintain, repair, and upgrade U.S. Army assigned vessels, facilities, structures and utilities within the Marine Department

Responsibilities:

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company

* Completes assigned preventive maintenance and corrective surface finishing and repair work on all vessels and related equipment using good workmanship.
* Operates vessel and shipyard equipment to safely complete repairs.
* Ensures repair facilities are kept neat, clean, and in good working order.
* Prepares written reports per company and regulatory agency directives.
* Accurately reports usage of all equipment and supplies; and ensures supplies are used in an efficient manner.
* Determine parts, supplies, and material requirements for vessel maintenance.
* Ensures the proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for the assigned tasks is worn at all times.
* Ensures safety, operational, and appearance standards are maintained by all subordinates.
* Inspects vessel and equipment finishes and systems to ensure maximize preservation and life.
* Ensure compliances with Federal, State, and Company policies and regulations.
* Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
* High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

* Experience
* Experience in commercial or industrial painting
* Two (2) years' experience in the maritime industry.

* Skills
* Basic oral and basic English writing skills.
* An ability and aptitude for marine industry.
* Additional knowledge/skill requirements may be required by assignment or contract.

* Working Conditions:
* Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
* Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 80 degrees in the summer months).
* Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
* The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
* The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
* The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level.
* The worker is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
* The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals

* Physical Requirements:
* Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
* Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies
