Overview: St. Catherine Hospital, located in Garden City, Kansas, was founded by two pioneering physicians and the Dominican Sisters. They created and maintained the spirit that has enabled St. Catherine Hospital employees to develop a thriving health care facility unlike any other in southwest Kansas. Like many of the families and businesses in our community, our roots run deep - 85 years of excellence and counting. Residents of Garden City enjoy life in a relaxed, small-town (population approx. 30,000) with a zoo, several parks, golf courses, modern shopping and more. Responsibilities: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Catherine Hospital is an eight-bed ICU. We staff an intensivist 24 hours per day, we care for a wide range of patients from sepsis, COPD exacerbation, respiratory distress, pneumonia, heat failure, GI bleed, renal failure and overdose. We take care of patients with art lines, central lines, intubations, procedures and telemetry monitoring for floor patients as well. We occasionally receive over flow from the med/surg floor if they are full. We are on a mission to provide the best care for all patients, from pediatrics to geriatrics and all those in between. Individuals might want to join our department because we are known for our collaborative teamwork. We are more of a family than co-workers. The employees support one another and never leave anyone behind. We can self-schedule and have a chance to develop a multitude of skills. There is a variety of personalities on our unit because that allows us to provide the best care to each patient individually. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will assume responsibility and accountability for: * Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. * Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. * Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values. Qualifications: In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified nursing candidates will need the following: Education Requirements * Associates Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement * Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred * Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs Experience Requirements * One year RN ICU experience * Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty Licenses/Certification Requirements * RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact Physical Requirements * Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly) **PRN requires 5 shifts in 6 weeks**
