Responsibilities:

The Plumber assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes; studies building plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. The Plumber maintains various mechanical supply and drains lines; to include clearing clogged lines, repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, conduct preventative maintenance on pumps, water filters, water heaters, high- and low-pressure steam lines, gas lines, gas meters, gas fixtures, gas regulators, vessels, drains and other plumbing appliances.

This is a union position.

Qualifications:

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

* Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and maintains all plumbing and its associated components, i.e., waterless urinals, eye washing/safety showers, floor drains, sinks, tubs, toilets, urinals, basins, faucets, lavatories, water fountains, showers, garbage disposals, etc.
* Inspects, maintains, repairs, replaces, and modifies non-privatized backflow prevention devices of facility, industrial, and irrigation systems. 
* Performs cross connection inspections. 
* Removes backflow prevention devices no longer required, such as those connected to abandoned irrigation systems or demolished facilities. 
* Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and maintains all water heaters (gas, electric, steam) and associated control and safety devices.
* Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools, cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine, bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe bending machine, or other means.
* Assembles and installs valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals.
* Performs basic electrical wiring for water heaters, pumps, and control devices.
* Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions.
* Performs on-call and preventive maintenance duties.
* Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
* Performs periodic stock inventories to prepare material requisitions for replacement.
* Operates customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment in a safe manner.
* Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
* Other duties as assigned.
