				Overview:

St. Luke's Health-Brazosport Hospital is located on a beautiful 25-acre campus in Lake Jackson Texas. Responsibilities:

The PACU RN utilizes the nursing process to identify patient needs and priorities of care through assessment, planning, and delegation of care based on patient needs post-anesthesia and evaluation of the patient's response.  Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization.  This position supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of CommonSpirit Health.

*  Maintain a knowledge base regarding sedation/analgesic and anesthetic agents and techniques, physiologic and physiological response to the recovering patient.
*  Assess, plan, intervention for and evaluate the physical and physiological response to analgesia; able to plan for the risks and the interventions for those risks associated with the administration of sedation, analgesia, and anesthetic agents.
*  Assesses patient's health and continuously monitors; detect changes in symptoms, health or pain, and take action as necessary; and quickly and accurately assess patient care needs.
*  Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
*  Collaborates with other care staff to assure smooth transition for patient throughout the facility using proper hand off techniques.
*  Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures.
*  Provides patient and family education.
*  Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
*  Orient and achieve competency from all areas of the Perioperative department.

Qualifications:

* Associates Degree Nursing required
* At least one (1) year of recent acute care experience required
* Experience working in PACU preferred
* Registered Nurse in the State of Texas required 
* American Heart BLS required
