				Overview:

Designs, develops, builds and tests systems and products based on optic, photonic and laser technologies. Interacts with device, hardware and software design teams to assist in overall development of optical systems; specifying, selecting and qualifying an active and passive optical components, developing and benchmarking system performance models, developing and implementing test procedures and/or evaluating and selecting appropriate test instrumentation.

Responsibilities:

*  Support concept generation, design, testing and implementation for product development.

*  Build advanced models on key optical technologies. Provides multi-discipline support to instrumentation production by resolving technical issues associated with components, parts,
products or systems; testing of new and existing designs and documentation

*  Performs system analysis and related analytical modeling on current and prototype designs. May apply quantitative analysis in determining root cause of highly technical problems and propose, develop and implement solutions for corrective action.

*  Creates engineering documentation for design of optical instruments.

*  Delivers support for manufacturing optical instruments and products.

*  Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
