Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of Oncology Pharmacist, Oncology Certified Nurse, or Oncologist, the Admixture Specialist prepares infusion medications; maintains and orders supplies.
The Admixture Specialist is responsible for the following:
*Prepares infusion and injectable medications upon physician's orders.
*Performs calculation
*Maintains clean and safe operation of biological safety cabinets.
*Assists pharmacists physicians nurses and staff as needed.
*Responsible for ordering all clinical supplies for the infusion clinic.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1 year progressive experience in sterile compounding
- AA Degree and oncology work experience. College level education may be considered in lieu of AA degree
- Current California Pharmacy Technician License in good standing.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and oncology center operations
- Ability to perform pharmacy calculations
- Ability to operate computer
- Ability to function under pharmaceutical preparation hood
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work with a diverse work force
- Knowledge of generic and trade names of common chemotherapy agents and pharmacy terminology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in oncology treatment center or hospital preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician Chemotherapy Technician certification preferred
