Overview: Nurse Supervisor - Powell 5 Leadership Role | Iowa Methodist Medical Center Join Powell 5, a 25-bed unit specializing in Neurosurgical, Trauma, and Orthopedic care. As part of our Level 1 Trauma Program and a Blue Distinction Center for hip and knee replacements, we're committed to exceptional, patient-centered care. Responsibilities: Provides evening management, leadership and coordination to the areas of Powell 4 and Powell 5. Provide supervision 24 hours a week, work in staffing a minimum of two shifts per schedule, and be in rotation for weekend on-call coverage. Maintains a knowledgeable employee group specializing in the care and treatment of Neuro/Trauma/Orthopedic diagnoses. Supervises, mentors, and continually encourages clinical and professional growth of assigned staff. Leads with the goal to continually achieve patient/family satisfaction and the best outcome for each person served. Coordinates daily processes and patient care with other interdisciplinary team members to improve patient/family satisfaction, patient outcomes, and service excellence. Qualifications: EDUCATION: * Graduate of an accredited allied health profession in the profession of licensure. * Bachelors' degree or completed within an agreed upon time frame. EXPERIENCE: * Two years experience as a registered nurse within the specialty (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Trauma, or Orthopaedics) preferred * Certification in area of specialty preferred * Previous leadership/supervisory experience preferred OTHER: * Must read, write, speak and comprehend English. * Must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds. * Demonstrates professional and technical competence and leadership abilities * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, prior program development experience preferred * Experience includes positive working relationships and team work
