Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (NP)

Shift: Monday thru Friday

Status:  0.8 FTE/32 hours/week

Unit:  Hem/Onc Clinical Services

Experience:  Pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT experience preferred and CPHON certification preferred or sought within 3 years

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in this role will work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide primarily outpatient care to individuals with sarcoma. The APP provide care in the outpatient clinic and the infusion clinic working four 8-hour days per week with Monday and Friday being required in this role. The most ideal candidate has pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT experience, is independent in providing care, works well with a multi-disciplinary team and is willing to grow and learn in this role. Skills that will serve this candidate well include strong organizational skills, and good communication skills. CPHON/CPON certification is preferred but is not required for hire; however, would be strongly recommended within 3 years of hire.

Provides healthcare to individuals or groups that requires knowledge and skill obtained from advanced formal education, certification and clinical experience. Practices within professional scope and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the profession?s Code of Ethics and maintains a current Ohio Advanced License.

Responsibilities:

* Assesses patients and/or populations; develops, implements and evaluates plans of care; clearly documents and communicates information both in written and verbal forms.
* Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established guidelines and standards as necessary for the care of the patient
* Utilizing evidence based practice, serves as a clinical expert for policies, procedures, documentation, and skills.
* Assists in the education, training and development of new and existing staff members.
* Engages in the "community of the work unit" by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, engages in Quality Improvement.
* Leverages technology and informatics to optimize healthcare outcomes.
* Commits to continued professional development of self and others.
* Contributes to the division and/or specialty goals and the Hospital Strategic Plan.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Master of Science degree or equivalent provision

LICENSURE: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Ohio

CERTIFICATIONS: Maintains national certification as APRN in the appropriate population foci for the position, or PA

 MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement.  Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit.
